Any issues/admonishments against using NiMH rechargeable batteries (e.g., [Link: radioshack.com] ) in the MX-850 remote?

I checked Universal's FAQ for the MX-800, but no mention of rechargeable batteries there...

No problems with my 700, although with 1.2v lower voltage overall (4.8v instead of 6v) probably backlight will be dimmer.

I use 4x NIMH 900mah. AAA of course :-P

You can't be that cheap can you? I pay $.30 cents each and get 4 or 5months from a set. I can't envision your rechargables lasting half of what energizers do. What a PIA for $2.50 a year.

Isn't that what Saddam tried to ruin when he lit all of those oil fields on fire? :-)

Sorry, I just came back from IP :-)

The ir and lighting will be weaker because of the reduced voltage.

If that isn't a problem, go for it!

You will have to recharge them quite often.

Of course that means plugging into the 'coal fired' or nuclear plant that supplies electricity to your outlet.

Alkalines over here are blooming expensive, certainly more than 10p for 4 (more like £4 a pack) and I can get a pack of NIMH for that. Cheap £1 for 4 alkalines and they lasted about a month.
