The problem I see, as johnsfine already stated,
is that since there is no way to add direct hex
editing into the editors themselves,

Yes I said that

the best
you can do is end up with what is already available.

But not that.

A standalone app that takes in a HEX code and
spits out a CCF which can then be used in the
Universal Browser, to me this is the best solution.
Simply because the editors will all accept the
same CCF as input. However, if you wanted to create
MXD, MXA, RCC, etc, you will have to decipher
all of those formats

I've used only the MX-850 editor (no other URC software), and I just understand where MXD fits in. So I thought a path directly to MXD would be better than going through CCF and the universal browser.

Are you saying for other URC remotes having an MXD file would not be as useful as having a CCF file? In other words, why "all"?

instead of the already well
known CCF format.

Not well known to many people. I know CCF format well enough to read IR signals from it (DecodeCCF.exe) but not nearly well enough to rewrite IrPanels. IrPanels is seriously in need of rewrite, but the source code was never posted.

Of course I know mxd format much less than I know CCF format. But MXD format is simpler.

Maybe I will get some spare time to read up on
the Pronto HEX information. Anyone point out a
good place to start ?

I agree with you that a Pronto Hex import feature provided by URC in the MX editor would not compromise anyone's database security. I don't know why URC hasn't done that simple task.

I guess that's the $24 question, eh? Sure would like to hear Eric from URC sound off on this!

I cant find a way to use MXD's with either the MX-950 or MX-3000. This was my reason for suggesting the CCF, so that one HEX program could be used across the entire URC lineup.

**EDIT** I just ran the LiveUdpate on my MX700 Editor and noticed its Unversal Browser now has the ability to import MX-3000 RCC files, so this might be a good way to go.

I should have stated that differently, I was just able to find MUCH more information about CCF than all URC file formats combined. (Whether or not it was useful or correct is yet to be determined)

Thanks for the info, looks like interesting reading.

Hello everyone, direct hex entry etc is on our agenda, always has been, just seems like one project or another keeps bumping it till next week. Right now, I've got the team madly reworking PNG file saves, while still trying to make progress on the Complete Control Suite, MRF-400, TX-1000 and MX-900. I'd love to see a thread started with priority listing of new features. If everyone could list their ten most important improvements and rank them, it would help me sort priorities.

Please comment.

Best Regards,

-Eric

Eric,

If you guys are developing that feature, then I will stop development of a 3rd party "hex to *.MXx/.RCC " import utility. I figured it would save URC the time and trouble of creating it internally. If you want me to contiune development, please contact me directly and we'll talk. :)

Thank you,

Damon,

Sorry I haven't called you yet. I'll be glad to help also, but if URC will add it to the editor, it may be more convenient to have it built in.
