Hello (and thanks for any help!):

On pages 20-21 of the URC-200 Automator's manual it says that I can use the PAUSE button while recording a macro in order to insert delays during playback. My question concerns the fact that I am starting with a brand-new remote that I do not intend to use ANY of the pre-programmed code sets with-- instead 'learning' each and every button on each and every device. If I do not load at least one of the pre-programmed code sets how will the remote 'know', when I am recording a macro, that I want it to insert a delay if the PAUSE button is either (a) still blank with nothing yet learned on it, or (b) 'learned' to some other function.

I have done lots of planning for setting up my remote when it arrives next Monday, but I cannot figure out how in the world I am going to get delays inserted.

THANK YOU!!!

T. Wilson

The only function the Pause key has during Macro mode is for setting a delay. No matter whats mapped to it. same goes for CH UP, only function is to save the macro, if you need a CH UP command in the macro itself, you would need to teach it to another key.

Hi,

It doesn't matter what you have programmed (or not). The URC-200 will only add delay time to a macro when the "Pause" button is pressed, it will not add the "Pause" command. To include a "Pause" command in a macro, you would need to teach it to another button.

edmund and Surf Remote,

Thanks for your replies! I thought that this might be the case... I just have to make sure that I do not learn anything to the PAUSE button that I may want to later record/playback on a macro.

Q: Another thing that I am confused about: Can I 'learn' a function to a key (such as one of the numeral keys at the bottom of the remote) and then record a totally unrelated macro to that SAME key as long as I put a Delay at the beginning of the macro? Or is this something that can only be done with one of the "Main" screen's Device Keys (where pressing the key shifts focus to that particular device while holding down the key plays back a macro --- with a Delay at the beginning-- that was recorded to it)?

I know that I can just play around with this once I get the remote Monday but the amount of planning that I have gotten myself into is amazing (as you already know better than I)---- and so the more planning that I can do before I get the macro the more I can just start straight away programming it once it arrives. I have 7 devices to plan for.

THANKS AGAIN!

You can't put a macro on the hard-labeled keys (other than the On/Off buttons). Any LCD button can have a macro on it, but the device buttons will also switch to the first page of that device without any programming. Putting a push-and-hold macro will allow you to switch devices without executing the macro. I don't believe you can have both a single command and macro on one button with the URC-200, but it's been awhile since I've used one.
