What is the solution to learning codes from a remote that sends two different hex codes for the same button press?

I've tried learning buttons for a Bush DVB freeview box and I can only get it to send one signal of that command once, ie "prog+" and "1" once . You can't keep on cycling through the channels or type in 11.

Tried learning onto MX-500, MX-700 and TC 1000 remote. Tried quick tap and release, hold till learnt, rapid quick presses and none work. :-(

edit if I learn each button several times and save to MX-700 profile could someone have a look at the IR codes in the MXD/MXF file? Perhaps might sort something out?

cheers

sounds like you have a toggle bit code, where there is a code on the press and a code on the release..so 2 codes for each button
There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

I don't know the general answer (for remotes that send two different hex codes for the same button press). But I think your BUSH device is the same as the BUSH device in this LIRC file:
[Link: lirc.sourceforge.net]

That uses the RC5 protocol, with device number 16. Maybe some other expert here knows the answer for RC5 even if they also don't know the general answer.

Also, this is a very common code set. It is used by a bunch of other devices of other brands. It might be that your remote will handle the signals correctly (use both versions of each signal) if you select the code set from the built-in library rather than learn the codes.

I have no idea what sort of built-in library your remotes have. This code set match a bunch of Amps, Preamps and Audio receivers from brands: Arcam, Linn, Audionet, Cyrus, Naim, Micromega, etc.
It also matches the Philips Goldbox DSS Receiver.
And it matches large parts of the code sets from more common Amps from Marantz, TAG McLaren and Revox

Correct.

release.

Incorrect. Some other IR protocols have that feature, most often IR keyboards. But that is totally different from a toggle bit.

thanks for info about Audiolab- I have a 8000S and 8000Q (same remote) tried the 8000RC remote but it doesn't work (tried numbers) also tried Philips Goldbox DSS Receiver..

Tried SAT-PHILIPS- 2 and it works! Ta!!! (071) but I can't learn those back onto the 500 :-( Do you know of equivilant code from the 500 table?) And which device ? (ie sat cable etc)

I thought I said Audionet, not Audiolab. The data I have for Audiolab 8000S matches the Audionet only in the three vol commands. It doesn't have power or digits or any of the other commands in the code set we're talking about. Another Auidiolab model doesn't match at all.

also tried
Philips Goldbox DSS Receiver..

Tried SAT-PHILIPS- 2 and it works! Ta!!! (071)

Is that two different "tried" or one? How did you try the Goldbox? You happen to have that remote? You know how to find that model in the URC database? (I couldn't figure that out). Or you just tried a bunch of Philips SAT codes until one hit?

but I can't learn those back onto the 500 :-(

That would be the same as learning from the original remote.

Sorry, no clue.

Other experts please comment.

I tried all Philips SAT based devices in the 700 database until the test button switched it off. Code 71 works, so now just need to find suitable code from 500 database (since it won't learn from 700)

Audiolab & Tag gear (at least integrateds) use same codes so tried the Audiolab remote. However sicne I can't learn then I must find codes within 500 itself.

anyone? I've tried loads of numbers from the database but it doesn't work. It's annoying I have MX-700 with working codes but I have no way porting them across to the MX-500 :-(

I wish the MX Editor & firmware was open source, that way could clone the 500 to the 700, upload to the PC, import back then clone across...or something to get around 500 limitations.

The only way that I'm aware of to learn codes that have toggle bits is to use a "learn twice" function. This allows you to learn both versions of a code and then the remote toggles between the those two learned codes every time you push that particular button. Unfortunately this function only exists in the MX-950 and MX-3000 editor programs. I'm sorry that this doesn't help to solve your problem - I just thought you might want to know.
