It is new and when attempting to download first codes to the remote, it scrambled the screen. I had to remove the batteries to get it to stop.
Now it is stuck in test. Holding main and stop only gets the test icon to stop, nothing else.
Removing batteries and holding down buttons to discharge does nothing either.

When trying to download to the remote I get several error messages.

On the remote it says downloading then at 25% error: "remote control not response [dltr-3]" and FAIL! 5 on the remote.
I click ok to the error and it continues to load the get the same messages at 50%
and error detected while processing in the program. I am using the latest version mx-850 editor, keyspan adapter usa-19hs, winxpsp2 .
What do I do next?
Thanks...

Nice purchase

What do I do next?

Hopefully it came from an authorized dealer. Return it for a replacement.

Thanks...

No problem!

Sorry I seem to have offended you.
I am in the Home Theater installation business.
This is my first use of URC products.
I will call them tomorrow. I was hoping it was a simple fix.
The manual is quite sparse in the trouble shooting dept.
Thanks....

When you press Main and Ent to get the little person to stop running, then you need to download at that point. You can't press any other buttons or it will not download properly.

If that does not work, there are settings for the port that may need to be adjusted. You can find those settings in the URC MX-700 F.A.Q. (something like "My computer is not communicatig with the remote").

Thank you,
Damon DG

Thanks Damom,
I have seen that post but I cannot make any changes to the port setting because the selections are not available on the keyspan usb serial adapter assistant tabs.
It has control over the port.

I think he was refering to changing the port settings in the Mx-editor software.

Windy

Is it possible to move your file to a desktop and try to install it there? USB adapters are a real PIA! This would help rule that out and verify that it is the remote.

Actually, I was referring to the advanced port settings in the Windows device manager. :) The settings should look like this...

Bits per second: 9600
Data bits: 8
Parity bits: none
Stop bits: 1
Flow control: none
Advanced menu
- Use FIFO buffers should be checked
- Both sliders should be all the way to the right

Thank you,
Damon DG
