Hi, When using the IR output on the back of the unit (mrf-300) to direct feed a device, Is the 3.5 pin plug used stereo or the mono type. I prefer not to use the flashers. Most of my devices have IR inputs for a direct conncection. Steven

Is there any particular way to do this as I have three Pioneer components with IR inputs but couldn't get any to work directly with a cable from the MRF-300. I had to put a flasher on my receiver and then run cables from the receiver to my DVD player and from my DVD player to my HDTV.

Make sure the Port you are plugging into is actually an IR in port.
The Integra's we use have an IR port as well as a RI port which is their interconnect between devices for control
A few Pioneers that I have done in the past have not had any IR in ports on them
Check your manual and verify that is is truley an IR port and not an interconnect between devices

It sounds like what I have is control ports rather than true IR ports. Each device has two connections (in and out) with the general term for the connections labeled as control. The three components are all fairly recent purchases and are each part of the Elite line. In each case the component will work correctly if the IR signal comes from another one of the components but each one won't work with a direct input from the MRF-300. I have to use a flasher on one of the components and then connect the output of this component to the input of another component. I can repeat this for the third component and everything works perfectly, however, I'd like to eliminate the flasher if possible and use a direct connection between the MRF-300 and the back panel of the components. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a 4 year old elite and it works. Go into the setup menue and, on my unit, there is an option for Pioneer IR or "Others" . Use others, if available, and it might work.

oex,
What type of component is your elite? I've got a projection TV, receiver and a DVD player.

oex,
I've seen that setting in my receiver's menu and I've changed it but I still can't get the 59TXi to receive IR signals from the MRF-300 via a direct connection to the back panel. It only works by attaching a flasher to the front of the receiver. What input on the back of the receiver are you attaching to the MRF-300? Are you using the control in jack or the remote in (multi room & source) jack or something else?

Those of you wanting to "jack in" to pioneer products should utilize the Xantech 794-10. Set the dip switches per the instruction, make sure and run a ground wire from the 794-10 to the chassis of the component. It will then control all other "sr" components downstream also. Some pioneer receivers will take direct IR into the "multiroom" inputs but that just covers the 2nd zone, you'll still need the interface for the main zone.
