I have a pany VCR pv-v4611 and a SA explorer 8000 I'm working with and can't find the discrete codes for the on/off. The VCR is not in the IR database and I've done some searches on the Pronto files section for the discretes with no luck.

Are there any work arounds for the SA 8000? The newer models turn on if a channel is entered but this model doesn't work that way.

Thanks in advance, Bob

Pana is a no go and the SA box needs you to set the power on setting to :power and numeric. then use this for ur work-around:

1, .5sec delay, exit= ON

1, .5sec delay, power= OFF

Yeti,

Are you sure about the numerical setting for the SA Explorer 8000. I can't find it on the settings. Is there a possiblity of a confusion with the 8000 to the 8000HD models?

Thanks

Keep in mind that the SA numeric setting is ONLY on the silver HD DVR box. It is not on the other boxes, as far as I have seen.

Thank you,

You ask if perhaps a suggestion is for the HD model. Well,

SA explorer 8000

The confusion you are trying to clear up may be created by the model number you give above. Is the model number really EXACTLY

SA explorer 8000

with no capital letters in "explorer," no dashes, no other characters of any sort?

That does not look like a correct model number, so suggestions will be given that might work on the HD model because, heck, if you did not give the exact model number, you might have left off the letters "HD!"
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

It is not the silver 8300HD box. The box is the non-HD version.

Is there another work around other than the "power and numeric" setting?

I am very interested in "work around" to discrete on/off for my SA8300HD box and this thread sounds very interesting. I found the "power and numeric" option you speak of in settings, which appears to allow me to turn the tv on by pressing any number on the remote; but how would I configure my remote (mx3000) to create discrete off? I'm not certain what I'm supposed to do with the above information. Thanks for the help!
