Just installed and it won't communicate with the MX-350. Anyone seen this error message?

When I try to upload from the remote, it first gives what seems like a positive communication message: "Auto success communication with the PC."(COM4)

I think this just means the PC and the PCL are communicating.

Then after a fraction of a second, it stalls and says "Do not know the receive message.(E0)"

I think this means the PCL and remote are having a hissy fit.

The remote shows BATTERY LOW at the bottom of the LCD, but I figured that was normal since the USB port is powering it instead of the batteries.

That's as far as I can go. The install of the software seemed to go smoothly. I removed and reinstalled with no change. Also did a live update.

**Found this in a search with no resolution yet:**

your mx-350 was not made after 5-31-05. you can check this by looking in the battery compartment a sticker inside has a 6 digit number this is the date of manf. the pcl-300 is not compatable with mx-350 made before May. i also found this out the hard way.sorry to be the bearer of bad news

Great. The 350 I have in hand was bought from my local distributor this summer late sometime; but it's date is January.

Can Eric confirm this?

I'm not so excited about archiving the 350s I have in the field now since NONE of them will likely communicate with this device.

If you have an older (pre May2005) MX-350, you cannot communicate with the PCL-300 directly. However, you could do an optical clone from an old to a new, upload and archive on a PC, and download to a new MX-350 and optically clone to an old MX-350.

Latest problem:

After uploading one device about 3 weeks ago, I thought all was well.

Tried one this morning. Remote does not light the LCD with LOW BATTERY as I have seen before - blank screen. Connector is in all the way.

Click on upload - computer is communicating with USB device, but not with remote - just hangs there.

Tried another remote, same thing. Both have 7-24-05 date on them. Was this a bad day for MX-350s?

Try it a second time. Has worked like a charm for me.
