thanks for the info, it did work with the following caveats:
when deleting all genre's (i showed 12), it only put back 8 (only those with at least 8 entries). In fact i put a movie with only war as a single genre and it did not include that listing separately. My question i show did i get several with less than 8 movies listed??? Could it come from running the demo first (which might list all genres and then upgrading to the full version???

2) while I left the dmx3000 along, I did previously add a 'movie controls' button to the 'main page'. Somehow, running the program effects these pages the main page reloads and the 2nd page of genre's goes away.

any suggestions or comments for the above? point 2 is a real bummer in losing programing changes to the page. (though it keeps the startup details...curious!) I really like the genre's... may need to have it list all (though there are multiples genre's for each movie)
thx

jhunt,

You are correct, if a Genre has less than 8 movies it will not be listed by default, you can select if though. if you click the [+] symbol next to Genres, you can select all genres you want to have added.

What Sam said was also correct, make sure you are using a BaseRCC, if not, you will need to delete all DMX.... Devices except for the DMX 3000 device.

If you have any other questions and/or problems please let me know.

Alittle help pls. As said earlier, I am having a issue with updating the dmx file with my mx3000. I find that I have to delete all the movies stored and then it recreates them. It does not remember my genre changes either and I need to reeselectthem each time and further blows away changes to the genre screen.

The dmx software has 3 action icons,
select base file, save base file, and open mx3000.

I find that the dmx software adds 'dmx' at the end of the file name selected.

my issue is that when i make programing changes to the mx3000, do i save it under the file with or without the 'dmx' in it. and when adding movies, do i need to reselect a base file? how do i know whatthe base file is?

also any clue how to keep changes to the screen with the 3 move bullets (new, all, genre)? my seems to be overwritten when i am reloading.

thanks

jhunt,

You need to make all changes to the BaseRCC, (without the _DMX suffix). This file should have NO MOVIES in it, but will have just the DMX 3000 Device you imported from the included header.

There is no way to save changes to the Main Screen, it is created from scratch each time you run DMX-3000, the only reason it is even in your BaseRCC is so that you have a page to link to from your DVD Device. You will want to select this BaseRCC file in DMX-3000 the first time, it will automatically select this file each time after that. When you click the save button it will create a new file with the _DMX suffix that will be identical to your BaseRCC file, but also include all movie options you selected. If the file creation was successfull it will enable the 3rd icon you mentioned which will open the newly created _DMX file so you can quickly upload that to your remote, without having to navigate to it.

I hope this cleared something up for you, but please let me know if you still have any questions.

I know this is reviving an old topic, but I was wondering if anyone has tried sending IR to a PC, so that the PC can turn around and send serial commands to the CX777ES via the RS232 port? If so, will this work with the DMX3000 software?

I haven't tried this myself yet, but when I do, I plan on using a USBUIRT and MLServer/Girder.

Has anyone else attempted to do this?

Thanks,
Scot

Scot,

I am controlling my 777ES through RS-232, but dont know what advantage you would gain using DMX-3000 and RS-232 aside from possibly taking the delays out of the remote side of things, and allowing the PC to do the waiting.

If the remote is going to be sending out the IR codes either way, what do you want to gain by introducing another step in the control sequence? If you want, shoot me an email with more detail about what it is you are wanting to accomplish and we can discuss it further.

Thanks for the response, 3B. The only reason I wanted to send commands through the serial interface was because when I was using MainLobby Server and sent play commands to it, the 777ES would (in most movies) completely bypass the trailors and menu screens, and go straight to playing the movie. I have never tried direct disk access with IR before, so I didn't know if it had that same functionality. Of course now that I think about it, maybe the MLServer command was the one bypassing them.
