Ok, I am officially perplexed. There have been like 3 people that contacted me about the MXD file I uploaded for the Samsung HLP-5685 with version 1031 firmware, saying that the file was empty, yet I just downloaded it and all the codes work like a charm. So you have two options to get all the discretes for this model... either download the pronto CCF file and use the universal browser to import each discrete into your own MXD or MXF file... or just import my MXD file from the files section.

Let me know if you need more info. I just re-created my MXD file from scratch here in the MX-700 editor and it took about 15 minutes total.

The MXD file is located here:

See my above post for the Pronto CCF file link.

Sigh. OK, I'll ask the embarrassingly dumb question. Hugh has been great to send out his files, and I appreciate Jeff's postings, but I've got a real newbie question (appropriate since I'm programming my first remote, I suppose).

I've got an MX-700, and I don't understand how to insert the hex codes--how to get the remote to generate a particular discrete code. I couldn't find it in the manual (although I'm convinced it's in there somewhere). In particular, I'm trying to write a macro that will (among other things) directly activate the HDMI1 source on my HLR5078W, rather than cycle through the inputs, and I just can't figure out how to get the hex code for HDMI1 into the macro so it can be sent.

You have to download the Pronto Software. That is the way to actually copy the code into the code field and then import it into the MX Editor software. There is no way of directly pasting the discrete code into the MX Editor. At least not that I was able to find. The Pronto software is free. ;)

Hi,

I also have an HL-P5685, and it does not respond to the discrete HDMI remote code. I called Samsung Tech Support and was told that the TV only ever had one firmware version, and there is no upgrade available.

I tried to find the firmware version by following the directions on the Samsung support site, but they reference a menu option that's not on my TV...

Can someone please tell me how to find the firmware version of this TV? I'd also appreciate any information anyone has that will help me convince Samsung Tech Support that there is more than one firmware version.

KM - you're the man! I have been fighting with how to change sources (ie: comp1, comp2, s-video etc.) and can't seem to find out how. Would your codes contain these discretes? Sure would appreciate your files if they're still available.
Regards

Hi,

I finally found someone at Samsung Tech Support who acknowledged that the problem is w/ the firmware, and that my TV needs a new digital board to fix the problem. (This is after one tier 1 support person told me that their supervisor told them "That TV doesn't have any firmware" !!)

I also found out how to find the firmware version on this set - it's displayed at the bottom of the service menu. My set has firmware version 1022.

I'm somewhat reluctant to post the directions for how to access the service menu because you can really mess up your set using that menu. I will post them with the understanding that I take no responsibility for what happens to your set if you mess with this menu. (I only used it to see the firmware version and never entered any of the submenus)

Regards,
Eric
