Ouch. I already spent $17 more than I wanted
to on this device buying the second converter,
nevermind the hassle of buying the first and returning
it, then going back for the second. Now, I have
to add a third at $35-$40 to the MX-700 price
tag to buy the exact (and most expensive) USB/Serial
converter just to get it working? AND then *hope*
that one works too??

Terrible OOBE (out of box experience) from URC.
Not only do they require you buy an add-on just
to get basic functionality from their product,
but the add-on costs almost 25% of the cost of
the item.

I think I'm returning this MX-700. When URC decides
to create a device that uses 21st century technology
(USB), I'll have a look again. Very dissappointing.
These guys make really nice remotes. It's a
shame they create such a horrible buying experience
just to make it functional.

Are you for real?

A) Program with a desk top and you'll have no problems.

B) Use a USB to serial that URC RECOMMENDS!

Don't blame URC for your failure to do 'due diligence' on your part.

Geeeeeeeeeeez

What part of "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." do you not understand?

The recommended Belkin is about $25.

Or about 6.25%. About what sales tax is in a bunch of states.

I have the 11% problem with a MX-700 that was programmed a year ago, and I am not using a USB to Serial adapter. I have tried two different versions of the MX-Editor software and all of the usual things like new batteries, rebooting the computer, changing ports, etc. etc. Nothing will allow me to upload from the MX-700 to the pc. I have a Dell Inspiron 600m and the same serial port works fine with my Pronto and Crestron software. I am at a loss. URC doesn't even have an idea of how to fix this one. Any ideas before I go ballistic on this MX-700?

I just wanted to add that I have an MX-850 and it is having the same problem...I can download a program into it, but I cannot upload from either remote. They both stop at 11%. I am at a loss.

We have a laptop that has the same symptom. Downloads to remote fine, but can't complete an upload. We use a USB to serial adapter to upload and the serial port to download

and those who don't!
