Some months ago I switched to a new computer, and haven't done anything with my remote until today. My old files have been lost, so I tried to upload my remote's configuration to my computer. I have the right com port (tried all of them, the only one that doesn't give me an error is Com 1.) When I click upload, the remote flashes "loading", and I get to 11%, then it stops, and the "Upload" button on the program, which was grayed out, can now be clicked again. It can't seem to get past 11%, and I don't want to have to start all over again learning all my old remotes.
Any suggestions?

Are you using a USB to serial and if so what kind? A differant adaptor, driver, or setting will likely get it to work. On HTM's web sight there is info on how to set up the com port.

I'm using a serial port, the only one left on the back of my computer. I turned off my Palm's Hot Sync also.

OK, I got a Serial/USB adaptor, and tried it on my desktop and my laptop, and now I can't even get to the 11% anymore. I checked my com settings, they seem to be good. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!
Phil

Have you tried pulling the battery's out of the remote for a minute? Some times this will help.

I pulled the batteries. Still no go: I get either Fail! 0 or Fail!4 on my remote, and the MX Editor tells me either the com port setting is incorrect or I have a faulty cable.

same problem here. I just bought a new MX-700. Tried one USB/Serial converter. Nothing. Returned it. Bought another one. This time it gave me my first hint of anything working at all, downloading 40% before dying. Now all I see is "FAIL! 0" on the remote every time I try downloading.
I have:
* Removed batteries 10 or so times * Changed the COM port on my COM/USB driver and on the Editor 10 or so times * Reinstalled the editor 5 times. * Used Main/Stop to RESET the remote 3 times. * Rebooted countless times * Turned off ALL other services running on the computer
Windows XP makes the audible sound when I connect and disconnect the USB/Serial Converter. It knows about it, and the remote is certainly being accessed, because it keeps display "FAIL! 0" everytime I try ANY operation.
I think I've tried everything. Anyone have any ideas?

The one that didn't work at all was a "Cypress". This one that works a tiny bit is a "cablesunlimited.com"

[Link: geek.pricegrabber.com]Try this! Works great with URC's remotes. Make sure you have the latest windows drivers updates also.

Ouch. I already spent $17 more than I wanted to on this device buying the second converter, nevermind the hassle of buying the first and returning it, then going back for the second. Now, I have to add a third at $35-$40 to the MX-700 price tag to buy the exact (and most expensive) USB/Serial converter just to get it working? AND then *hope* that one works too??
Terrible OOBE (out of box experience) from URC. Not only do they require you buy an add-on just to get basic functionality from their product, but the add-on costs almost 25% of the cost of the item.
I think I'm returning this MX-700. When URC decides to create a device that uses 21st century technology (USB), I'll have a look again. Very dissappointing. These guys make really nice remotes. It's a shame they create such a horrible buying experience just to make it functional.

Try new batteries and a new cable. I had the same problem and at first the batteries were low in power and could not finish downloads. Then the cable was replaced by the company and I was now able to download.
