Hi there,
I'm having weirds problems trying to control a SONY camera (EVI-D100) thru learned IR codes. (mx3000 software is updated.)
Here's the details:

1- I had to put the "2-learn" to get the commands to repeat because if I used the normal 1-learn, only 1 sequence would be sent, even if I had the "repeat while button is pressed" checked. Anyway, after this, while pressing the cursor buttons on the mx3000 to control the direction of the camera, lets say going up & then down, sometimes the switching to down just sends 1 IR code (while I'm still pressing the key) and I have to re-press the cursor down key again so the MX3000 repeats the code to keep it going down. Thats weird ?!

2- To control the zoom of the camera, I have 2 additional keys (this time gif buttons on the mx3000) for a zoom plus & zoom minus. Here I run another type of repeating codes. Sometimes while pressing one of those 2 buttons (for a continuous zoom movement) the key seems to "stuck" and the MX3000 holds that button down, doing an infinite loop repeating that precise IR code. The only thing that saves the day, its a "navegation -" button assigned that ends the loop. Again, very weird?!

All those buttons described above are programmed as: "repeat = 1 time; repeat while button is pressed = checked".

Thanks in advance,
Ric

Ric,

In response to your first question...do a single learn, but while you're learning, tap the original remote's button several times before it can say "GOOD". This is the method we use for allowing volume commands to ramp up or down while holding the button. The same should theoretically apply in this situation.

For your second question, also use the single learn or the method described above to see if it makes a difference.

Let me know if this works for you.

Thank you,
Damon DG

Hi Damon,

I guess playing with 1-learn & tapping with different timings improved the learning of the codes.
So far no "stuck" status on MX3000. Is this usual when issuing repeated codes -- MX3000 stucks (loops the IR command) and only doing a "navegate -" will put it back "online"?

Thanks for the help. I'll post if things get messy again.

cheers,
ric

Ric,

I'm glad it worked for you! This is a common way to learn a command that you want to repeat when holding the button. I'm not exactly sure why it works this way, only that it does usually work.

"2 - Learn" is for remotes that have difficulty learning individual commands, due to toggle bit codes that use two separate, alternating code strings on a single button.

I am always happy to help. :)

Thank you,
Damon DG

Hmmm, my luck just ran out a few minutes ago :(

After adding to my MX3000 program some gif buttons for a Vol+ & Vol- for a Pioneer Amp I ran the same problem of getting the controller stucked sending endless IR codes for 1 of those buttons. I used the tapping technique that seemed to work fine. Here's some notes:

1- the only way to stop the endless IR sending code is by pressing the "exit" key which is associated with a "navegate-".

2- after the error occur, it seems that it "spreads" to the other buttons that control the cameras mentioned above. If I press 'em now they will stuck for sure.

3- besides the vol+ and vol- gif buttons, I also assigned the same IR codes to the real switches (vol+ & vol-) on the MX3000. These always behave good, even after I used the "navegate-" to stop the endless sends. Thus, it seems a bug with gif buttons.

4- luckly, this error behaviour only happens every now & then when I use the gif buttons that send repeated codes. I'll keep at hand that "navegate-" key for a PANIC button.

Thanks all,
ric

Ric,

Have you tried to remove the repeat command and see if it works just by holding it down?

Hi,
You mean remove the check from the "repeat while button is pressed" ? I did, and the IR code just flashes for a bit.
I can't get a repeated IR command by holding the gif button down for a smooth volume change.

Thanks,
ric

ps: today, I changed all gif buttons that use the repeat option "on" to repeat from 1 time to 2 times, to see if I get another stuck condition on MX3000.

Ric,

Ok. In that case, leave the "repeat..." button checked and set it to repeat 3 times. That is the defailt and seems to work if you learn using the "flutter" method I described above (multi taps while learning).

Let me know how it works.

Thank you,
Damon DG

hello again,
I set all my repeat "gif buttons" to 3 times. So far so good :>
I guess the MX3000's OS must have a small bug that wakes up every now & then and stuck on repeating an IR command.
Anyway, we can live with that because this is such a nice and handy toy.
I want to thank you all -- helpful site this is !!!
Keep up the good work.

cheers,
ric
