While I'm not new to universal remotes, I am relatively new to discrete ir codes. That being said, now that it appears that the MX1000 software will only be for "backup" and "restore", is it safe to assume that adding discrete ir codes will not be an option on this remote?

If discrete ir codes are an available option (or might be with future software upgrades) can the codes listed in the vast Pronto area of this website be used on this or any other pc-programmable remote? Or must discrete ir codes be developed specifically for each different brand of remote?

To clarify the software issue for the MX-1000, which will be available on our website by September's end, all upgrades, discreet power, pc-programming (windows), and back-up will be capable through the software.

The MX-1000 comes fully programmed out of the box, so software isn't necessarily needed in order to get the remote control in operation. The software enhances the MX-1000, but isn't required for operation since it comes fully preprogrammed.

Mike, thanks for your response. Even though there hasn't been much software info available, it's nice to have some feedback from you.

Now I know the software is still under developement, but is there any detailed information/documentation regarding the features of the software? There are so many people with so many questions about it. Head over to the "MX-1000 Release Notice" thread, where a few of us who have been waiting a long time are pleading for more info.
