My MX-3000 software is buggy, wasn't before
Just recently upgraded to Norton 2005 Toshiba Laptop running windows XP Pentium 4 3 mhz speed 1/2 gig of ram
lots of bells and whistles
MX-3000 software started running very buggy..... Whenever I click on the upper toolbar...i.e. Files tools options, help, etc. The window shows an error and prompts the SEND TO MICROSOFT bug report and the system crashes.
I CAN---Alt-F for file and it appears ok or alt-"letter" to get any of the other commands to pop up......also the lower toolbar works cut paste upload download etc.
I tried unistalling the reinstalling
uninstalling then rebooting then reinstalling
I loaded the software from the disk
I tried from the file section of remote central
It always pops up..........
NOTE...my microsoft active sync always used to show as a green circle in the running programs now it shows as the mx-3000 which it only use to show after proper connection.
I even restored my computer back to a previous day before the norton install..
Whats the issue....

Did you try running the program without having the remote hooked up through the usb? Sounds like it could be a driver issue. I know when I did one last week, if I even bumped the remote in the docking station it would get funky and shoot error messages.

I have tried installing with the remote and without....
I even threw salt over my left shoulder and made a wish upon a star and Im sure its some microsoft evil that is paying me back for bad karma.
Its a work around to use the alt button but when you dump into the remote it saves so if I screw up at least it shouldnt be too bad.

CI,
If you do a CTRL-ALT-DEL, is there a lot of stuff running under "Processes"? I know on a lot of computers, they pre-load a lot of junk that no one will ever use.
Also, Norton Crash Guard is notorious for CAUSING computers to crash. I know that sounds odd, but I've had this happen on several computers and also the computers of friends. When we removed it, programs hardly ever crashed.
Let me first recommend Grisoft AVG Free. It's a free anti-virus program, which has been the BEST I've ever used. No charge for updates, unlike some of the major manufacturers, and it also catches a lot that the others seem to miss.
Additionally, if you want something that works well with finding and removing spyware/adware/etc., download a copy of Webroot Spy Sweeper. Also, extremely effective...better than most others I've tried, which typically did little to nothing or caused problems until I removed them.
Let me know if this helps.

I also use Grisoft AVG Free, and it rocks. However, maybe you can answer this Damon, I was on the other day looking for it, but didn't see it available for download, you know where to go now? Sorry, don't mean to thread-hijack

Alternatively, there is also http://free.grisoft.com which has a bunch of betas for other software and stuff. As well as AVG Free, which is the program to which Damon is referring. Tripp

I am sarcastically thanking URC for all the support on this issue.

URC does read this site, but not every last thread. As with any software issues, your best route for support is to contact the company directly.
Thanks, Dale
