On average, how long does it take you to program a full MX-3000 remote that includes:

- Macro set up of about 4-5 activities (Watch TV; Watch a Movie, Listen to the Radio, etc.)
- A help feature in all activities similar to that of the Harmony Remote
- Some custom graphics (local radio station logos, custom battery indicator, etc.)

I'm programming my second MX-3000 (about 4 months between programming the two), and it's taking me quite a while. I'm not looking to see who's the fastest, but more to see how long it should take me.

Any feedback would be great!!!

Programming time depends largely on how well you've got the templates set up for your use. With a properly designed template, programming a complex system can literally be a 1-hour job. On the other hand, if you're designing a custom UI for each job complete with new graphic design and specific layouts for individual components, then you could easily rack up 50 or more programming hours.

Hmm . . . nothing too fancy here (except for the help feature, which asks you a series of questions about the state of the components, and powers them on, or whatever depending on your "Yes" or "No" response. If anyone really wants to see what I'm talking about, I might be able to send you the file.

I'd be interested in seeing your file. I also tend to spend a lot of time on mx-3000 programs, but I'm playing around alot with custom graphics and variables. 1 hour? that's a good goal for me to shoot for, I guess.

Wow, everyone keeps saying 1 hour. I guess I'm beyond slow then - LOL. So far I've spent nearly 40 hours on this project. I guess making the macros kill me. But like I said - second go-around on an MX-3000.

Plus I hate all this drag and drop stuff, and all the limitations in the software. Like I'd love to have more than one file open at a time, clearing the contents of several buttons in one swipe, etc.

If I am using one of the MX editors pre-made templates, I can do this in about 1-2 hours with help pages. If you are using a custom template, then more time will be needed. Somtimes can range to 10 hours or more. I am working on a Matrix themed remote contorl right now for a customer, and I will let y'all know how long it takes. Includes a Receiver, CD-player, DVD-player, Hi-8 deck, VCR, DVR, TV, Multi-zone, AM/FM Radio, XM, and Cable Music Channels.

I don't even want to think of how much flipping time I have in a few of my remotes. Tried real hard to be creative. Found out function was more important than looks. Now that it is functional i want it nice and pretty again. Then to have it as functional as I want and as pretty as i want it wont fit. Hank, Eric WE NEED MORE ROOM.

I could work on one for 8 hours and not be up to what I've seen from you or Dale, Andre. Looking forward to seeing all the entries though. ;-)
