I recently made a post regarding the unfortunate trip my MX-850 took into the tub. I opened the unit to dry it out inside (I realize this may effect the warranty, but figured I had nothing to lose as the warranty probably doesn't cover being fully submerged under water) and couldn't help but notice the similarity between the 850 and 800 housing. This got me wondering.
Could you order the MX-850 buttons and thumbpad and would they fit in the housing of an 800 (the rubber overlay that fits into the housing)? Or could you send the 800 into HTM and have them do this for you? I really like both the feel of all the buttons on the 850 and the separate select button. The 800 works great otherwise, so I am not looking to by a new 850 just for the buttons. I now have one 800, two 850's and three 500's that I plan to sell on e**y (don't want to mention that name here).
Anyone know if this would work, how you would go about the upgrade and what an approximate cost might be?
Thanks,
Kris

Kris,
Since you have both the MX-800 and the MX-850 and you already know how to take them apart, why don't you just try it? Someone asked this question about the center button on an MX700 when the MX-850 first came out and I don't think anyone ever came back with a good answer from URC. If you do try it, make sure you let us all know if it worked or not.

I'm not 100% certain, but I believe the molds for the MX-700, MX-800 and MX-850 are the same. The button layout is identical though.
