Our MX-850 recently took a trip into the bath tub. Immediately removed the batteries and drained the water out of the remote. I decided I would also open the remote to make sure there was no water in there and also to get the rest of the water out of the LCD screen. Once I got the remote apart I dried all of the internals with a blow dryer with medium heat. I also dried and cleaned the LCD screen with a lens cleaning cloth. I then reassembled the unit and let it dry with the batteries out for a day.
Re-installed the batteries and I am happy to report no problems with the unit. I believe I probably could have not opened the unit and just let it dry out for a couple of days and not had any problems.
In the future I will put the remote in a zip lock back while it is being used around the tub.
So if this ever happens to you make sure you immediately remove the batteries before pushing any buttons and let the unit dry completely before using it again.
I have used the MX remotes for many years. Just one more instance of how well built these remotes are!

A couple of pontoons duct taped to either side prevents that from ever happening again :)

There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions. |
