Hello all,

I posted a question here before pertaining to a template I am making for the mx3000. My file size is way to big to fit. I notices when I put the mouse over the rcc file it shows the file size.

The big ones that wont fit are over 12MB, but when I deleted just enough to make it fit, the rcc file was just under 6MB, does this mean if I optimize all the graphics and can keep the rcc file size under 6MB it should fit on a first gen remote? Does this also mean a 12MB file would barely fit on the new 3000's with double the memory?

I can get a reply from URC on this issue (or anything else). I noticed if you copy and paste a page a few times the file gets huge even though the graphics are exactly the same on every page.

If someone know the abolute limit of the rcc file size that will fot a 1st gen, please let me know. They say 32MB of memory, I think not.

I also want to be able to fit the DMX3000 program, which will definitely require a 2nd gen remote with more memory. I emailed Bracken and we are going to get together to discuss letting me come up with a GUI for his program to match my upcoming template.

Thanks for any help on this you can give me.

I already anwered my own question, I guees I should pay attention when a file loads to the remote. It says file size and max file size. The max file for 1st gen remotes is 7342kb, could someone with a v3.6 or newer remote let me know what it says when you load your rcc file as far as max size goes? Thanks so much.

I want to leave room for the DMX3000 on the 3.6 on up remotes. I am going to rework the GUI with Bracken in alpha channel transparency.

Thanks so much Bruce, that will help a lot. I finally got my project to fit on my remote with room to spare. I am going to release a light version for anything uunder v3.6 and a full featured version for 3.6 and higher. I am also going to leave room for the DMX3000 sofware which is sadi to take up about 3MB.

I still have to get Bracken to send me a copy so I can take a look at it. I am emailing him right now to discuss this.

Thought I would chime in here, and try to add a little on the size issue.

DMX3000 size will never be constant, it could use the entire 12MB if the DVD collection was big enough. My particular file takes just under 3MB but I only have 234 DVD's. Someone that has say 1000 movies will use approximately 9MB if they use all options in DMX3000.

That being said, there will obviously be times when both Noels template and DMX3000 couldnt be used together if a certain DVD collection is large enough.

MX-3000 Editor Max Size on 3-day old 64meg remote says 12557 KB; the unit says Available 26652 KB on a user file of 12093 KB. URC Support Techie says he'll call me back with user maximum. Makes no sense to have 26meg available and a UserMax of 13meg. Wasted all weekend converting my TSU-6000 file to reach the equivalent max size.
Love the GuiFX professional graphics!!! Worth the money!

This is what shows up on my remote when I go into the system screens (press main for 5 seconds):

Total: 51016 KB
Available: 27536 KB
System Used: 11216 KB
User File: 12260 KB (4799 KB)

O/S: 4.20.001.003N2 (apr 2 2005)
Firmware: 2.22.0.50402

This is also on a brand new (one week old) MX-3000. I still cannot make heads or tails of what this info really means. Any one?

Dino,

This means that you have approx 12 MB for your program and all associated graphics, etc. The rest of the memory is dedicated to the OS and internal processing functions.

I hope this helps clear things up a bit. :)

Thank you,
Damon DG
