Just upgraded from a mx-700 to mx-850 and notice the light button on the 850 reguires a hard push until click to operate. The 700 was so soft, I wonder if I might have a bad button, or is this normal?

I've noticed that too. I think it is the way it is going to be. The newer 700's were the same. I've only dealt with a few 850's, and they all had a hard push. I don't think I like it, but, I guess I can live with it.Thats not to say I like it!

One of the few things that failed with the early MX-500s and 700s was the "Light" button. It's been beefed up to avoid that, but maybe a little too much.

As Mike said, they are using a new light button. The problem with the previous version is that I was getting a significant enough number of requests to fix light buttons, which became detached from the PCB. Usually, when someone posts about an earlier model "rattling" and no light...that's because the switch came loose.
The older switch did have a nicer feel, but this one works and will stay on the PCB. :)

Good, I'm glad to hear it's not a problem with the remote. I tend to be a little anal about some things, this would have been one of them. Now I shall share the excitement with my wife.
