After an abortive attempt with a Pronto I'm now looking at getting an MX-700 .. can I use the Clone function of my 500 to copy my setup to the 700 so I don't have to go through all the setup again?

I know the 700 hasn't exactly the same layout but most of it of course is the same.

Unfortunately, you can not. The button layout is different, as well as the IR database. The MX-700 has more commands per device on the LCD, as well as more devices.

Thank you,

Even if you could, you'd still have to spend just as long moving things around, and programming the remote how you want it.

The MX-700 software has a very fast learning feature, so you can go through the entire MX-500 remote in just a few short minutes, and in the process put the codes exactly where you want them!
