Hi guys. First post and very glad to be here. I have a mx 500 which I thought was great as I have owned the sl9000 for a few years now. I purchased it because I have a new fta dreambox or dream multimedia box, and wanted a remote to learn that code. My sl9000 was incapable of learning the codes from the original dream multimedia remote and I thought it is simply outdated.ie the sl900. However I cannot get the mx500 to learn the commands for the dreambox fta ird, although the mx500 will show that it has accepted the codes. I went out and bought a harmony 659 which I was able to download the commands to via internet, but I dont like it as much as the home theater remotes. In looking through codes for the mx700 I noticed someone has downloaded the codes to place on the mx700, to operate the dreambox. I wold like to know if its possible to somehow download the dreambox code into my mx500. or do I need to purchase the mx700?

It sounds like it's a "toggle bit" code that they're using, which makes it hard for remotes to learn, since there are technically 2 versions of each command per button (hence, "toggle bit"). If there is a code available for download, then it would be a good idea to pick up an MX-700/800/850.
Alternately, Universal Remote Control can create codes from your original remote. You can call them at: (914) 835-4484 if you would like them to do so.
I would be happy to give you a free consultation and deal on any of the remotes we carry. Feel free to call me at: (914) 509-5360 if you're interested.
