I'm seriously thinking about the MX650 or 850 remotes. As a novice, should I get the PC programmable remote or a manually programmable remote? Can you also manually program a PC programmable remote?

In my opinion, PC programmable is far superior. Once you learn MX-Editor it's very quick and easy. And with PC you always have a backup file for your programming, important if the remote fails and you need a replacement.

You can't manually program a MX-850. All you can do manually is the learn function.
