Hey all

i started a new remote template on my mx-3000 and am attempting to do things the prpoer way - or so i think. in any case, the problem right now is this - i have devices like TV etc and the generic 'metal' button on the main page which was generated and links to the TV control pages.

in order to better represent my gear [and to differentiate between tv's in different rooms] i have renamed the TV device to 'Plasma', the DVD device to '777ES' etc and i have noticed that it added the text 'plasma', '777es' to the button on the main page.
The thing is its just a graphic which has text in the image of: tv, tivo, tape etc and i dont know why the new text is being generated as a font overtop.

when i attempt to delete that text on the button, the corresponding text 'plasma' ALSO gets deleted on the device tree. remember, these are buttons on the main page, and they are effecting the names of devices on sub pages.

so why are they linked, and how do i unlink 'em? i dont want a bunch of 'blank' devices..?

What you can do is uncheck the "Display Text" box for the buttons where you do not want it to show.

Did you copy and paste the page or buttons? That may possibly be the reason they appear to be linked to one another. The best thing to do is to go to the Image Gallery and drag and drop graphics from there, rather than copy and paste.

Let me know if this helps.

Thank you,
Damon DG

thanks! i caught that, but i wanted to understand the way. its a bit unnerving that it hides the links from the user when you paste things.

yes i did. definitely a 'feature' - it should be more like excel - the paste-special should allow you to paste links, but you need a way to view the 'link' rather than this sort of seeming random behaviour.

thanks very much for the help!

one other question - when i import IR data from another mx-3000 file, i found that it imported ALL the learned IR data. now i have a dozen IR devices i dont need in my list. is there a way to remove a bunch of them at once, rather than just one at a time? like an external file i can edit or something?

CB,

As long as it's only importing one device at a time, as you probably want it to, then you just need to delete any commands or pages of commands that you do not want. By right clicking on a page in the tree menu, you can delete an entire page. Otherwise, you can select multiple buttons on an individual page by doing a SHIFT + left click, then delete.

Let me know if that helps.

Thank you,
Damon DG
