Has anyone else had a problem with yamaha dvd player remotes learing onto universal remotes? the transport buttons will only work once for me...like the right button. i hit it once, it works, keep hitting it, it wont work anymore. almost like it uses some cycle that a universal doesn't learn. I don't have problems with a sony 3100 but i do with my mx500 (which i actually DO like) It seems like the sony waits on learing and gets the whole thing but the mx500 tries too fast and quits to early. (the sony won't learn it right either if you don't hold down the yamaha button when it's learning)

any ideas of how to ge the code on the mx500? (i've already tried off the sony)

p.s. tech support from h.t.m. sucked, bad. "uh, yeh. It won't work" and "try the mx 3000" were the only words i got out of him.

Some of the Yamaha's use toggle bit commands which are not easily learned. Have you tried all of the preprogrammed database codes?

Chad,

Yes, this could be cause by "toggle bit" commands. Essentially, each time the button is pressed, it alternates between two separate bits.

The best thing to do is to check the Files area of Remote Central and see if there is an MXD, MXF or Pronto Pro CCF file for your device. You can import any of those files types, either by using the Universal Broswer feature of the MX Editor (for MXF or CCF files) or by right clicking on the device in the tree menu (in the left panel of the Editor) and selecting import (MXD only).

Let me know if that works for you. If you have any other questions, I'm always happy to help.

Thank you,
Damon DG

Unfortunately, he has an MX-500.

Chad,

Whoooooooops! My mistake. As Mike pointed out, I overlooked that you are using an MX-500. In this case, call Universal Remote Control and see if they have the code already or if you need to send the Yamaha remote so they can create a new code for you. You can reach them at (914) 835-4484.

Thank you,
Damon DG
