I have a question for you seasoned HTM owners. I have just picked up a MX-700. I was a previous pronto owner (hit the floor one to many times), Is there any advantages on the MX-850, MX-800 over the MX-700. I've had mine for about a week now and was able to program it without any problems once I went back to version 1.12.228. My house inside and outside is using a lot of Xantech IR recievers, which I love. So I went for the MX-700. I'm having to use a Xantech plasma freindly reciver in the family room and have the emitters on every piece of equipment. Also looking for codes for a Pioneer PDP-5040HD, currently I learned it and works fine. Anyway the distribtor that I got the MX-700 from said if you want to return it for the more expensive MX-800 solo or MX-850 I could. Any opinions would be great.

I like the design of the MX-850, particularly the separated select button in the center of the thumbpad. Believe it or not, it's a significant change.

Also, with the MX-800 or MX-850, you'll be able to use the MRF-300, which is an RF receiving IR repeater, which can replace your Xantech. The RF capability means that you will not have to point the remote at an IR sensor and can even remove the sensors, if they are unappealing or stand out more than you'd like. All you would need to do is simply swap the Xantech repeater with the MRF-300 and plug in your existing IR emitters.

That would be a very powerful setup, in my opinion.

Thank you,

Does that mean that I still would use the Xantech conecting block, I'm using 4 of the dual emitters. Should I be concerned that the 850 they have in stock is the Orion? And I take it the the MR 350 would be needed in addition or should it come as a package w/ the 850?

You could replace the Xantech block with the MRF-300...just plug the emitters into the MRF IR out ports and use the MRF's power supply. The MRF-300 does not come bundled with any remotes at this time.

No need to worry if it's an "Orion" model, all they did was change the name for legal reasons.

DG, Does the 300 use the smaller ir plugs like the 250 or will regular emitters plug in now?

KB,

The MRF-300 uses 3.5 mm and is specifically designed to work with other emitters and plug directly into IR in ports on devices.

See this thread for more details on what's in the box:
