what are we talking, like Fully rendered 3D images, or just the appearance of 3D (like an MX3000 button)?

Well the three industy standards are Maya, 3D Studio Max, and Lightwave, for fully rendered professional 3D. There's several others as well, I personally use Maya and 3DSM. If you are considering using this kind of stuff in an MX3000 remote panel however, I wish you luck, as 3d files typically get pretty big. Also, the programs have a pretty steep learning curve attached to them.

If you're looking to just do some basic stuff, like make edges look round or text look carved/stamped, use Photoshop with Eye Candy 3000 by Alien Skin Software. They make some great Photoshop plugins and they're very easy to use.

Thank you,
Damon DG

Alwyn,
I also recommend Cinema 4D by Maxon (www.maxon.net). The basic package is much cheaper than 3D Studio.
