Make sure you have Active Sync installed as well. It's part of the MX-3000 editor installation. Also, if you had the MX-3000 connected when you installed the software, you'll have to remove and reinstall it.

I've done everything and anything to even get Windows XP to recognize the device. I get the "Found New Hardware Wizard" screen but it doesn't recogize the device. This is by far one of the worst pieces of equipment I have ever bought. I'm tempted to just throw it out the window and never buy another one of their products.

The best thing to do whenever you get stuck like this, is to call Universal Remote Control tech support. They can get you up and running ASAP...plus, they'll help save a LOT of frustration. You can reach them at: (914) 835-4484.

I have found that if I unplug the chord from my computer then plug it in the other usb then it will find active sync. But I only have to do that every once and a while.

Do you have another device on your computer that uses Active Sync? ie. a pocket pc type PDA? URC has stated their is a problem with Active Synce with multiple devices and usually you need to eliminate one temporarily to get it to work. According to URC the problem is with Microsoft and not their software and there is no way they can fix it until Microsoft update Active Sync.

Allegedly, Microsoft did just release a new version of ActiveSync, which reportedly has improved plug-and-play capabilities. Go to [Link: microsoft.com] and download the latest version there.

Newest MX-3000. S-O-L-U-T-I-O-N !!!
Started off with same problem: ActiveSync not recognize device. ...
...
SOLUTION: There is an easily missed "must reboot to use ActiveSync" dialog. I missed it.
1st, I didn't install MX-editor from disk since I programmed before buying yesterday; no ActiveSync; installed from disk. Upload says NO FILE (duh); meant to DOWNload. Worked only ONCE.
2nd, read this thread. Removed ActiveSync, downloaded newest from Microsoft. Reinstalled twice. (Missed "must reboot dialog"). No go.
3rd, fooled with Device Manager to no avail. Turned off my HotSync. Reinstalled ActiveSync without removing it. Said to reinstall instead of new installation; proceed. Saw "must reboot dialog"; rebooted with ActiveSync open. ActiveSync dialog was still open after reboot, asking to plug in device.
4th, plugged in; partnership dialog; I said NO, only move files. Whaaalaah! Success.
Final Comment: Bought and LOVE the $100.00 GuiFX.com's Inspire MX templates; trashed my reconstituted MX programming from TSU 6000; GuiFX is worth the money!!! Beautifully wonderful!
...
I H-A-T-E the MX-3000 Editor's inability to LOAD SYSTEM fonts. GuiFX has free fonts, with ProntoPro transport characters that the MX-Editor still can't access. I H-A-T-E it, I tell you. So silly.
I H-A-T-E the PAGE button WIPES, left & right. Please give me the option to REPLACE as as option, as is available on other buttons JUMPS.
I H-A-T-E the MAIN button DROPDOWN. Please give the option to REPLACE as as option. ===================
Are you listening, URC?

Ridotto,

You can have the page jumps perform other styles, rather than "wipe". Double click the jump in your macro and a dialog box will appear. At the bottom, you have "Jump Style". Simply change to "Replace" and you've got it. :)

Ridotto,

I wouldnt go so far as to say I HATE it, but being able to change the Jump Style would be nice. Unfortunately, that information is not even in the RCC file, but rather must be programmed directly into the remote, so they will have to change not only the editor but also the application running on the remote to allow for a jump style other than the default.
