Haven't really seen much (yes, I did a search) on this or the other remotes in Universal's new lineup. They seem to be a cheaper alternative to the Harmony line and I like the looks of the layout. Anyone here have one or know anything about them. I'm returning my 8810 and considering this one.
thanks for the input.

jeff

Yes, I have one, and I recommend getting the mx-500 instead, its so much easier to program. On the URC-100 each operation uses different two-button combination to enable, hard to memorize all of them. You'll need the manual always.

You might also consider the URC-200 for a few bucks more than the MX-500.

I've got the urc-200 and I like it alot. It was easy to program and it's easy to use (even for the wife and parents :) I've got it to everything in my system except the soundfields on my Sony receiver, but that seems to be a sony remote issue that I'm still trying to resolve.

Thanks for the replys. I'm going to BB to ck out the URC-200 this wk. and will probably go w/ that, except for buying it from one of our online vendors for a lot less.

Thought I'd update on my remote status. I've changed the name of this thread to reflect the addition of the 200 to my recliner side table. Bought it from Surf and have had about 1 wk now. Taking awhile to get all my stuff in it. Except for the JVC tv the device codes in the book weren't of much use. Had to pgm just about everything for my Yamaha recv. Haven't tackled the Sony Dvd changer yet but I expect about the same. Anyone know which code is best for a 5 disc dvd changer?

Anyway some thoughts. Overall I like it but will take getting used to having to go to the main screen and then the device button each time I change devices. Was much easier on my old URC 7200. I like the feel and weight even though it is a little bigger than what I was used to. I like the underside being flat so it doesn't roll off the chair arm like the Tivo peanut. Haven't tried the wife factor yet but I believe she may inherit the 7200 and the peanut for her side of the room.
Programming is not too bad except for some stubborn commands that take several tries to get in. So far the only thing I can't seem to get working is the volume for my recv. When I press the up or down toggle it comes up on the screen that vol. is going up or down, but the recv knob doesn't move and the vol stays the same. Any help here? I've also found that sometimes I have to learn commands from the 7200 instead of the original remotes. Go figure? Also I wish the keys would light up when you touch one instead of having to press the light button.
I'll work on my dvd and cd changers next and then I should be done. Any tips or hints at this point would be greatly appreciated. The cd changer is a Yamha as well.

thanks and I'll report more later.

Are the receiver volume commands learned or from a code? If they're learned, hold down the button on the original remote while learning, rather than a single push.

To avoid going back to MAIN for commonly used device changes, program a macro on one of the LCD buttons to take you to that device.

thanks Mike, that worked by holding it down. I then applied the same technique to the cursor up and down for the Tivo device and it worked there too. Before it would move up and down but not scroll ( I had moved the tivo device to replace vcr on pg 1, it would scroll on the dvr device on pg 2). going to work on Macros next. If not for this forum I would have probably sent the remote back by now.
