Hey Everyone:
Alright I understand the software, and I've figured out that when I hit say "DVD" on the MAIN page, it should run a macro to change various inputs and such. Also that if I hold MAIN and hit DVD, it will just go to the DVD device page, and not run the macro.
My question is, HOW do I do this? I have a slight idea, but i'm not totally sure. Also do I have to program the remote so that "when main is being held, do NOT run the macro, only open the DVD page?" or does it do that by itself?
Also if I can't find my component in the IR Database (or in the RC.com files section), and I have to learn every button off the remote, where are those stored, and how do I get access to them? I'm a little confused on macro creation I think....
Thanks for all the help guys, and if there's a few links I should check out, please go right ahead and link!

go to www.universalremote.comclick on custom, proffesional products. click on home theater master click on tech support click on MX-800 tutorial It will guide you through I could write you a step by step, but it would probably be easier for you to have it on file for reference at a later date. The 850 programs just like an 800. Congrats on purchasing the best remote I've come across! Once you get past this first hurdle, you'll be a very happy (and proud) person!!! If you have any other questions, don't be afraid to ask!

I don't know how, but I was playing around some more, and it just... clicked!
I do have one question though.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's NOT possible for the remote to issue a "turn off" command ONLY if a unit is off already.
Basically my TV device turns the receiver to TV, and turns the TV on. My "PC" device turns to VCR-1 (really my computer on my AVR-3805) and turns the TV off, but I guess the only real way to do it is to select the device from the main page, and then use the on/off buttons at the top.
Oh, and the macro question answered itself :)
Also, about the backlighting, is the Light button on the side the only way for it to turn on? it doesn't come on when you touch certain buttons, or can you put that into a macro?
Any other general "neat" or "nice" tricks would be helpful too!

If you have discrete codes for your TV you can turn it on or off, no matter what it's power state currently is (ie, p-on will turn it on whether it's on or off, and p-off will turn it off no matter if it's on or off).
The light button is the only way to my knowledge.
What I do is use the power On/Off on the MAIN page to turn all non-discrete code devices (or devices I haven't spent the time making a CCF for to get the dicrete codes, importing into mxf, etc) and just use that MAIN On/Off to turn the system on and off. Any discrete code devices I turn on when I hit the device button. Also in my MAIN power off I send the discrete power off codes for all devices so if they were turned on they get turned off when I turn the system off.

Alright still playing here...
a) Is it possible to set volume on the receiver in a macro to a certain level? b) Is it possible to set a certain radio station for the receiver? I know you can do it for TV (I'm assuming with a favorite... or is there a better way to do it?)

As with my previous questions, how would one program a FF button for a DVD player? Maybe I'm just blind (ok I am) but I know the >> and << buttons on either side of the navigation pad are for prev/next chapter, what do you guys use for FF/RW?

your 3805 has some volume presets located in the IR database under AUDIO,DENON,DISCREET FUNCTIONS.
make sure you do a live update first sto be sure that the new IR codes are there. You will see 6 vol presets, 3 for the main zone and 3 for the 2nd zone.
the 3 preset volume levels are -40, -20, and 0dB
have fun man. if u have any questions feel free to email me, i have programmed many of those.

regarding the ff and rew functions, i use << and the >> for the fast forward and rewind. i use the Channel up and down buttons for the chapter up and down, same acronym eh.
for your radio presets this is very easy. in the discreet functions of the IR data bas e is the presets for those as well. I label the LCD screen with my station names and I embed the ir code under that button. then i simply just store all my stations accordingly to how i made them in the remote control.

D,
Typically, as Yeti mentioned, the Ch +/- buttons will skip chapters and the <> buttons rew and ff. Alternately, you can have the chapter skip on the LCD, if yuo'd prefer, but I believe most of the DVD players in the IR database have them set to CH +/- automatically.

have fun man. if u have any questions feel free to email me, i have programmed many of those. I'm a little lost. I had a look in the database for those, but the 40 LCD buttons listed under that location aren't "preset volume levels". Are you sure they're not listed under another device? I looked around and checked many different code sets, but I couldn't find them listed on any LCD buttons that I came across. Ben
