I've got the MX-850 and one of my devices is titled "Radio" which is the Tuner device from my Denon AVR-4802r AV/Amp/Tuner. On this device, in the "Edit and LAbel Buttons" window, the EXIT button's name is "SETUP". And since hard button names are greyed out (you can't change the name of a hard button), I can't change the label on this button.
So what gives?? First, how did it end up with the name "SETUP" when it is actually the EXIT hard key, and, how can I fix this?? This drives me nuts cause when programming other buttons to the Learned function of the EXIT key (labeled SETUP), I have to choose "(L) SETUP []" from the drop down list of available IR codes. But since I also have a "SETUP" key programmed with the real "SETUP IR code, how do I know which one is which??
This is the REALLY STUPID part of this software!! I don't understand why the MX editor doesn't simply have 4 fields for each button.
The field names for each button should simply be:
1. Button Label: This would be the remotes ACTUAL button label. The soft keys could be S1, S2, S3...S10 (for Soft 1...), the number keys are simply the number 1, 2, 3... and the others whatever they are, EXIT, SETUP, PREV CH, ....
2. MY Label: This would be what I want to label the button. Yes, this would only be downloaded to the remote in the case of the softkeys (S1-S10), but at least I would have a label in the software of what I am using a button for. So 6 months down the road, I can easily remember what I was doing with it... and/or label it the same as what was on the original devices remote. For example I have a remote with a MENU and a SETUP key. This field would allow me to store which one I programmed. Sometimes the SETUP key is the MENU key, sometimes it is the MENU key from the original remote.
3. IR CODE. This would be either "IR", "LEARNED", MACRO, or "SHORCUT". Simply telling me if this key is a Pre-programmed IR code from the db, a Learned code, a Macro or a Shortcut to another key. It would be blank when nothing is programed on the button.
4. DESCRIPTION/Notes. Wow!! Imagine a PC program allowing me to type in a description and notes so I can remember what I was doing with a button, or what I was using it for, or even explaining what the button does.
Can somebody PLEASE explain to me why we don't have these four SIMPLE fields?? Why do I have this CRYPTIC "Edit and Label Buttons" window, that of course doesn't even stay inside the application????
Anywho, back to my problem, any ideas?
