Jim,

I personally use it on a Sony DVP-CX875, I know it has been used by others on a Sony DVP-CX860, and Sony DVP-CX777ES. I believe it will work with a majority of the Sony Changers without any change, as i think they use the same IR codes and Macros.

I just recently ( Last night infact) added support for changers that use the +10 and +100 style macros and this is being tested currently on a Kenwood DV-5900M. The gentleman helping me with this test says that the macros are working correctly just need to be tweaked a little as far as time delays between key presses.

The program should work for any changer which uses either of these two styles of disc selection.
1) Direct disc selection by number.
2) +100 +10 0 style disc selection.

You assign the correct codes for each of the numbers 0-9 and a BEFORE and AFTER macro for your specific changer, and I will alias to those for each movie macro.

If you have a changer that uses something other than these two styles, drop me a line, and explain how you have to select a disc. I would be more than happy to do my best to change the program to support it.

Regards

Still working like a charm.

For the info of others. software worked right out of the box (so to speak) on my Sony DVP-CX985V.

Also, for your info Bracken, I have been using 1and1 internet for over a year now for my domain name and hosting for the paltry sum of $5.99 per year, and have been delighted with their service. (www.1and1.com)

A Future version will have support for multiple
changers and of multiple brands. The front end
will be a single fluid list of movies, so there
will be no noticable difference between changers.
When you select a movie, you will be taken to
the corresponding controls for that changer. Coding
has already begun for this feature, I cant give
a date as to when it will be available. BUT it
is in the works.

Right On! I can't wait to get my fingers on this masterpiece. I also think the addition of a Favorites list is huge. One thing you may want to think about is providing "favorites" via several categories (i.e. "Kids" "Action/Adventure" "Comedy" "Drama" etc.).

One of the coolest features of the Kaleidescape is the ability to search the data base in real time by almost any category (genre, director, actors, etc.). I see no way of doing that in a MX-3000 but then again, I couldn't even come close to doing what you've already done. The (admittedly hair brain) idea might be to capture the genre tag from DVD Profiler as part of the import for each DVD. Assuming that there is a way to use the "variables" feature (or the "dynamic" feature, which I still can't figure out), you might be able to use a "press" command to bring up a static "favorites list" for that genre and a "press and hold" command tore-sort the data base via genre tags. {I can dream can't I?}

Like I said, I don't see how that would be possible (at least in real time) without having a search engine running on the MX-3000 and dynamic (versus static) pages. However, subject to the memory/capacity limitations of the MX-3000 you might be able to do the genre sorting via DVD Profiler and then import those sorts as additional pages similar to the Alpha Key process you've already created. Okay, sorry. I haven't even used your program and I'm offering up crazy ideas. I guess that's the magic of the internet.

Keep up the great work. I think you're on the verge of building a killer app.

Rob,

I have a By Genre listing, which is all pulled from DVD Profiler, it is static however, and only by Genre, But, for example you could press "ACTION" and would be shown an alphabetical listing inthe same layout as the original, but with only ACTION movies shown, There is also a Detailed page, which would show Rating, Running Time, Aspect Ratio, Primary 4 actors/roles, and has the front and back covers displayed, ( 1 movie per page)

Both of these are "IN THE WORKS", and with the holidays coming up, I cant say how soon it will be available, but I am enjoying the use of it on my remote thus far, so I am hoping everyone else will.

Hi Bracken!

I have two Sony DVD changers, a 300 disk model and a 400 disk model! I would love to try your program. I don't use DVD Profiler but would like to give it a try as well. Thanks for taking the time to make this task easier for all of us!

Best regards,

Paul

Hi again Bracken - I'm editing this post to add my e-mail address - I thought it would be easy for you to get in my profile, but maybe not... Please - PLEASE send me your program to try on my MX-3000!!

[email protected]

Many thanks,

Paul

I have to give a great review of this program. First, I have a Kenwood DV-5900M 400 DVD changer. It doesnt do direct addressing of discs, but rather uses the +10,+100 logic. This originally was not part of the DMX-3000 program, but now Bracken has integrated it as an option. He has been very helpful in tailoring the program to work with my changer. I am very impressed by the program, and had considered doing something like it myself, but the thought of writing all the macros and fussing with the cover thumbnails appeared to be too daunting of a task. This program has made it a snap. In 5 minutes you can be up and running, and it is easy to update when you get new DVDs. Since the macro writing process is automated and done for you, no need to worry when you add DVDs. If you were writing them mnaually, each time you added DVDs would mean changing the menu screens and adding/changing macros, a hassle for sure. I am just really impressed by the ease of use and the efforts of Bracken to make whatver changes are neccessary to make the program function with any changer. If you are contemplating doing it, DO IT! It is easy to use and help is only an email away.

John,

Does your pioneer changer use a direct style disc selection, ex. can you just simply press 1-5-2 to get to disc 152, (possibly with a few key strokes before and after the number)?? Never used a Pioneer changer.

For the Pioneer Elite DV-F07, you must first press the "SELECT DISC NUMBER" button, and then key in the disc and press "enter". I can dig up the codes tonight and forward if you'd like.

No thanks, I appreciate the offer, but I have no way of testing a Pioneer Changer setup since I dont have one. So the Codes themself really wouldnt do me any good.

However, once someone has setup the controls page to work with ANY changer, other than the one I supply for sony changers, i would appreciate a copy of the controls page so as to be able to include it with the program for others.
