Forgive me as I am not at home to simply test this.

Regarding the problem that the unit will not wake-up when a timer goes off, so the timers basically don't work. Have any of the new updates addressed this problem yet?

Does anyone know when this issue might be resolved?

I really hate explaining that my $1000 remote can't handle turing the lights on/off automatically like my old Pronto :)

So the MX-3000 is staying in a "sleep" state when it should perform a function? I haven't personally run into this problem, but I will have to test it out to see if I get the same results.

Have you tried contacting Universal Remote Control to make them aware of the issue or to see if they have any additional information? You can reach them at: (914) 835-4484.

Let me know.

Thank you,
Damon DG

I have contacted them a couple of times back when I first posted. They confirmed the problem, but did not have an estimate for when it would be fixed. Honestly I did not call them again this time, I was hoping with so many updates lately that this was one of the fixes.

I seem to be the only one who is bothered by this (judging by the number of responses that are mine :)

No, this was a huge disapointment for me too, here's the reply I got:

Jim,
I read your message in the threads that Mike Gifford and Eric Johnson sent.
Today Eric wrote this reply:

Gentlemen,
The timer issue is a tough one for the programmers evidently. YJ says that after the problems with delayed button response, they will address this.

Realistically, this means we will not have useful timers until December at best.

Best Regards,

Eric

I know that the engineers are working on this along with other software issues, like support for .png file graphics. I first became aware of this timer issue when a guy on RemoteCentral.com posted as HarleyXTC talking about his light timer not working until he picked up the remote. Now Ed Thomas who works in Customer Service says he's tested the timer and it works for him. You may want to call Ed on 1.800.901.0800 and talk to him about his experience.

I will speak with Mr. Jak You, our Director of Engineering to see if he has any updates.

I want to thank you for choosing Universal Remote Control products and want to encourage you to continue to supply us with feedback so that we can make our products better.

Yours truly,

Hank Eisengrein

Hee hee, I'm sure he meant a "woman" named harleyxlc :D

I called again and got the same response. The engineers are working on it, they are aware of it and it will be soon. But no timeframe. They are good about updates, so I don't doubt that someday it will be addressed. I just wish there was a place I could check the status of it myself.

Actually the other times I have called, including the first time, I was told they were already aware of it. I am surprised Mr. Eisengrein hadn't heard of it earlier. I also hope the December in your response was 2004, so it just means they are running late and not 11 months or waiting!

Did you talk to the guy at URC that Hank said was able to get the timers to work? Maybe there is some trick to doing it? Maybe there is some ceremonial dance you have to do or something?

The only way to "get around" this programming issue with the timer is to set your MX-3000 to never sleep when its on the cradle. When you have the unit in the cradle, (not in sleep mode) , thus it will perform the timer functions regardless of what time of the day/night. Unfortuanlly this is the only way I could find to solve this specific problem untill they come up with fix. Hope this helps you guys!

Sorry guys, we are still working on the Record Timer issue. The SLEEP timer is working correctly, so there is hope. In the meantime, the only workaround is to place the remote on the charging base and have the remote set to never turn off when charging.

Eric,

I seem to have a problem getting my mx-3000 to wake up after a sleep command is executed. According to your post this is an issue that has been resolved. Is this something coming in a future update?

If not and the current software version is working properly is there something that I am doing incorrectly?

Here is a brief rundown of my scenario:

1. Execute sleep command
2. Remote shuts off after designated amount of time (while off of the cradle - 20 seconds)
3. Fall asleep on the couch
4. Wake up to find A/V equipment still on
5. Pickup remote, remote wakes up, equipment turns off.

If I have the remote on the cradle and I set the remote to stay on the sleep command works just fine.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!
Steve
