Hello,
This will be an easy one for any MX-700 owner to answer. I am thinking about purchasing a 700 and was wondering about the text entries. I realize I'm limited to 5 characters per label which I can learn to live with. But I am unsure as to what characters I can use. Of course A-Z in upper case and numbers are OK, but what about lower case characters? Special characters such as the greater than? Plus and minus signs? Ampersand? Right and left arrows? Etc? The dot matrix grid can handle any of these characters, but I'm not so sure about the MX-700 software . . . what's the verdict?
Thanks, Bill

Your best bet would probably be to pull down a copy of the MX-700 Editor software and play around with it for yourself. You won't get lower case, but you will get a lot of symbols, both of the regular PC keyboard sort and of the regular remote sort. -JW

Someone please correct me if I am worng, but can't you more or less use both lines, (10 characters, as long as you program both of the corresponding buttons to do the same command? = "WATCH TV" "WATCH DVD", etc?

Lots of people have used the 500/600/700/800 that way.
The new Aurora has the 10 buttons up the side of the LCD screen, but offers the capability of using 11 characters across the face of the LCD.
Just as soon as you enter the 6th character, the remote automatically configures whatever IR code you have on the button to be repeated on the corresponding button on the other side.
The Aurora is certainly a different looking remote than the rest of the line, and personally I thought it would be cumbersome to work with it, but the more I "played" wioth it, the more I liked it. I will absolutely be upgrading my MX-800 to the Omega, but may even go as far as the Aurora when it comes out.
