I just got my 600 from BlueDo and already have one question.

I only have 5 devices, so just want to use the five left buttons for them.

The right buttons I want to lable and just use as a simple function button. It seems that when you use a device button you always switch to a device page.

Is there a way I can use these devise buttons as a simple functional buttons?

In the end, on the main page I want three buttons for my lights, power, dimup and dimdown. I hope this is doable.

The buttons on the MAIN page all correspond to devices, but... when you say "The right buttons I want to lable and just use as a simple function button" - do you mean that you'd like to set those up to enact macros, for activity-based use? For instance, pressing DVD would setup your entire system to watch a DVD, and end up on the DVD device page?

If so, that's completely doable! The LCD buttons on the MAIN page can be programmed to be press-and-hold macros.

In the end, on the main page I want three buttons for my lights, power, dimup and dimdown.

This I'm a little confused about. It sounds like you have X-10 or similar? That would be another device on the remote, the buttons wouldn't be on the MAIN page's LCD.

But couldn't he simply create a macro to do his lights, power, dimup and dimdown on those unused device keys, even if they were only one command macros.
The only downside would be the requirement for 2sec hold to activate the macros.

Absolutely, use five LCD buttons for devices, and five for single-command macros, or press-and-hold macros.

Would they HAVE to be press and hold or could they be instantaneous single-command macros ?

My wife just text my cell phone - package has arrived. Guess I'll be playing with my MX-500 tonight :-)
Just hope we don't have any DOA's or other problems.
Thankyou for the fast service Blue-do.

You can do a single-action "macro" with a single quick press - for a normal macro it's a press-and-hold.
