Is the Sidekick remote which came with my MX-700 compatible with the MX-800? I know the MX-700 and the Sidekick are infrared, and the MX-800 is RF. Would an owner of an MX-800 have any use for a Sidekick?

It can be used as a companion IR remote to the MX-800, but you'll need to use the MX-700 software with it, not the MX-800 editor.

As Mike mentioned, compatility is really just a software issue, which is free and can be downloaded here (6.3 MB)

Well, the MX-200, MX-700, and MX-800 are all IR, the MX-800 can also send codes in RF to the RF base station. It's still an IR remote.

Would an owner of an MX-800 have any use for a Sidekick?

An MX-800 would have as much use as anyone else - the MX-200 doesn't require the MX-700 to work.

My MX-800 software displays the sidekick, do I still need the MX-700 software?

You should use the MX-700 software with the Sidekick. Even though it may work with the MX-800 software, I've had problems with it not downloading correctly.

Mike,
I have used the MX-800 Editor to program my Sidekick with no problems.
