Hey all,

I'm looking for a remote extender that will only control certain devices in a room. I already have a MX-500 and don't want to buy some different type of remote to accomplish my task at hand.

I have three DirecTiVo's in my living room that feed a RCA tv via a S-Video switchbox and then each TiVo also feeds a specific bedroom via Coax and is controlled from that room via remote extender pyramids that pass the ir back to the living room.

My problem is that I have a RCA tv in two of the three bedrooms that uses the same remote code as the one in the living room. So when I use the power and volume controls in one of the bedrooms that has an RCA tv, the living room tv is affected also since the remote extender is not device specifc. The extender simply passes all ir to the trasmitter in the living room.

Any ideas?

To really have a lot of control over the RF, you'll want the MX-800, which comes with the MRF-200, a fully addressable RF base station. You can set what codes are sent IR, RF, and if RF, which emitter send the signal. It's incredibly versatile, but it's not nearly as affordable as one of the more common units, which often send out any and every code via RF, and anything within range of the emitter or blasters get the signal. Even these affordable units allow the use of IR-Blasters, which direct the signals right to the IR receivers of the devices, so other items aren't affected. For instance, you could attach an IR Blaster to the satellite receivers, and then only they would receive the codes sent by remotes around the house using remote extenders. The TV in the living room would be "immune". Let me know if you need further explanation!
