I have been using my MX-800 for quite a few months and am very happy with it. But I have run into an issue that I need some help.

I wrote a macro for an LCD buttton that switches my TV audio to my AVR and another macro for another LCD button to switch the audio back to the TV speakers. These macros work successfully from the TV device page, so I added shortcuts to the two LCD buttons on my DirecTV or SAT device page. The macro consists of two LCD buttons with learned commands from the TV remote, a RIGHT and a SELECT command. The macro includes time delays between the commands.

When I push the buttons on the SAT page, the macro does not execute properly. I see the word MACRO on the screen while it is running. The first command executes but the succeeding ones seem to be executing some other commands.

What is wrong here? The listing in the macro window indicates that the commands are from the TV page. Do I need to go to the TV page to execute the macro properly? Are the RIGHT and SELECT commands not being executed from the TV menu with the proper TV IR codes? Is the remote putting out the SAT RIGHT and SELECT IR codes?

Any ideas on what is wrong?

Import the full macro into SAT page button, I don't think it works pointing to the button (which in turn contains the macro)

A bit of a pain really, if you use the same macro several times you need to have copies of it, rather than a central database of user macros (like the TC1000)
Shut it Dole scum! :-)

Boy, we were both in synch on that one. I just used the import macro and it now works beautifully. I came back to report my new success and saw your reply.
OK, but why should it not work? The macro steps point to the appropriate device page and a shortcut to another LCD button is legal. I would be interested in an explanation.

Thanks

The shortcuts should work. I use them all the time for the ON and OFF buttons so when I change the OFF button macro on the MAIN page, I don't have to change them all.

There appears to be issues with macro chaining, shortcuts going to a discrete button should work, but a macro to a macro will not. Remember also a button may have a built in function or a learned button + a macro.

What is the content of your OFF macro?

There is no macro chaining issue here since my SAT LCD buttons have only shortcuts to the TV LCD buttons with the macro.

As a former software engineer, I understand some of the issues involved but I think this may be a flaw unless it is something connected specifically to the actual macro commands.
