I have an MX-1000 that is a few years old. When you press the light button, nothing happens. At the same time, there is a loose part rattling inside, and the light button doesn't have the same tactile feedback. I tried twisting the remote to take it apart to see if it can be fixed, but no luck. Anyone else have any suggestions? Or is it time to upgrade to a Pronto?

If you like your MX-1000, then email [email protected] and explain the situation.

They'll give you a quote and then you can decide what you want to do.

If that doesn't work out, before you upgrade to a Pronto, check out the URC-200 and 300 reviews on this site. They can do a lot that your MX-1000 could never do, except for PC programming and graphical icons. They are, however, extremely easy to program without a PC program.

If you like programming with a PC, the MX-700 and MX-800 are, once again, much more powerful than the MX-1000 ever was.

The same thing happened to my MX-700. I did the twisting thing (takes a lot of force, but didn't break it) and opened up the remote. The rattling piece was the switch for the light button. I re-soldered it with four easy spots and bingo! Just like new.
