I like my MX-500; but I need RF capability now. It appears the MX-600 is the same as the 500; but with RF? The URC-200 reviews look good; but I'm concerned that there are fewer lcd buttons/names. I don't really like touchscreen. Any suggestions?
I have 6 devices.
Thanks,

Yes, the MX-500 and MX-600 are pretty much the same remote.

Thanks,

All of these remotes support more than 6 devices so that is not an issue.

A number of people have also voiced their comments on this topic in the past and Daniel has recently posted an excellent write-up on the URC series of remotes. Here's a couple of threads to check out:

Ergonomics is a very personal thing. If you like your MX-500, you'll like the MX-600 even more. On the URC-300, you'll probably get used to the touch screen unless you happen to have long fingernails. The hard-buttons on the URC-200 are nice but you'll spend a lot of time flipping between screens given that you only have five labels per screen. In the end, the only way to determine what's best for you is to actually hold each remote in your hand and plan out your configuration on paper.

On a technical note, the macro capability of the URC series is far superior to the MX-500/600. Another thing to consider are the components that you'll be purchasing in the future, especially if you plan on buying equipment from Philips or some other manufacturer that uses Parity Bits in its IR protocol. The MX-500/600 cannot learn these codes correctly but the URC series can.

Just my $0.02...

you can also clone from your 500 to the 600 but not the 200

Thanks. I will be getting all new AV gear for the new media room; so cloning is not a factor. However, the parity bit issue may be a factor. I have or will be purchasing: Harman Kardan 7200 receiver, Hughes HD TIVO, Mits or Panny DLP, Denon DVD player, and a VCR. Does anyone know if this will require parity bit learnig ?

I don't believe any of those components use parity bits. I know that Hughes, Mits, Panny and Denon do not and haven't heard about any problems with HK.

If you're on a limited budget, or are only considering the MX-600 and want to save a buck, try the new remote extender here.

It's a more limited solution as it has fewer IR emitters (only one, I believe), but for those looking to just get basic RF, it's an elegant solution to a complete remote upgrade.
god helps those who help themselves.
