Here is an example situation:

I have to learn VOL+ and VOL- from the remote on my receiver (Onkyo Onkyo TX-SR502, Remote: RC-567M). I go through the normal steps and learn the IR for both codes. I can learn them onto a hard button or onto an LCD button. In both cases when pressed each of the buttons will emit the correct code and function as expected.

Here is the catch. I have not found a way to do a press/hold on this newly programmed button. Thus instead of being able to say press and hold VOL+ and have it keep increasing the volume on the receiver it simply issues one VOL+ command and stops.

Is there a way to program this type of press/hold operation for a learned IR via some combination of macros and/or shortcuts?

Alternativelly does anyone have a device file for the above Onkyo receiver?

I know we discussed this on the phone, but typically you want to hold down the button on the remote you're learning from until "GOOD" appears in the bottom of the "Edit & Label Buttons" panel when learning.

Mike thank you for calling back so late on Friday before a long holiday. Its that kind of customer service that makes me happy for shopping with you guys.

I have just tried your advice and simply held the depressed button on the OEM remote longer (instead of simply tapping it) while learning it. That solved it.

Thanks again.
