I'd just like to say how happy I am with the repair department at URC. A few weeks ago the backlight went out on my MX500 (after over a year) and I dreaded sending it in for repair.

I called URC and they said it was a flat $15, shipping included, and it would take 5-10 business days. So I shipped her off last tuesday at lunch, priority mail. I figured they would receive it last friday, have it a week or so and I'd probably get it back around the 20th.

Well I got it a week later on 9/8. They replaced the light switch and the front and back case 'cause they said it was stripped. Now the light switch "clicks", it never did before. Is this normal? Also it cameback without batteries and I figured I'd have to reclone it from my IRClone but, no, the program held.

In all a very positive expeience. and my week in multi-remote hell is over.

Glad to hear it went so well. The newer backlight switch does indeed have a "click" to it. The remote can hold the programming for months without batteries.

I think most manufacturers prefer if you don't send in electronic devices WITH the batteries still installed, although that would preclude any device that does not have a long flash memory.

All HTM/URC remotes have many, many months if not years where they can hold the programmed memory, including learning codes, macros, etc. so you never need to send the batteries in with them.
When ignorance is bliss, ‘tis folly to be wise.
