Dale,

How does it benefit users of the templates that the source files can be altered to produce PNG files instead of GIF and BMP files when we don't have access to the source files?

Because as soon as the MX 3000 supports PNG, I'm ready to produce a new set of templates that take advantage of the alpha transparency. It wouldn't mean long hours of rework. When PNG support ships, updated templates can ship with it.

FYI.
I spoke with a tech at home theater master today,
and he said they were working on supporting .png,
as well as having the ability to use raw hex IR
codes in the MX editor. Hooray!

Bummer! Now I can't announce that to you guys at CEDIA! :-(

You'll be happy to know that the source files
for the MX 3000 templates are such that they can
easily be altered to producce PNG files instead
of GIF and BMP.

How soon is this in the works?

I'm actually not in the loop on this one. I don't know yet.
