This is strange.

I just bought this new DirectTV HD Tivo HR10-250. The unit is new, so there isn't a 3 digit code that works for it, but the good news is there aren't that many buttons.

Now the strange part.
I used the learn feature to match buttons, to the MX-500. Every button worked except for one. The Tivo's fast forward refuses to copy over. The rewind, works. Every other button works. I tried copying it to the FF key, and even to a soft key. I tried copying it to another device's softkey. Nothing works. I just can't get the FF key over. When I "learn" it is says "Good" on the MX-500 but the key doesn't work.

Anyone have a suggestion?

I'm going to try to copy it to my Radio Shack remote, and then if that works, I will try copying it from my Radio Shack Remote to my MX-500.

Thanks,
jedk

Yes this is a known problem with the 10-250's oem remote and all learning remotes. The solution is to get the FF command from another source, so using the radio shack will work fine.

OK, but just in case, does anyone know the 3 digit key code for the Radio Shack remote that will work as Fast Forward on the 10-250. Also, where is this know problem documented? I searched the Internet, and didn't see anything.

Thanks,
JedK

I had a problem teaching my sony AV-2100 the FF and REV from the HR10-250 Tivo remote. What finally worked took multiple tries to get the timing right. It seems to be related to the multiple speeds of FF and REV. By only presssing the FF or REV (REW) button for a split second on the Tivo remote the Sony was able to learn the code. There was a definate delay between pressing the button on the Tivo remote and the beep of acknolidgement from the sony but it did learn the cocde this way.

Hope that helps
