I am using a MRF-200 (version 3.0) with my MX-800. I got this remote/blaster combination so I do not have to point the remote (none of my equipment is behind obstacles or in another room). When I press a remote button, the blaster's red STATUS light blinks, but the MRF-200 does not seem to have any effect! None at all! Are there setting that need to be adjusted to make it operate?

Thank you!

Make sure you have all your devices properly assigned in MXEditor (under RF Control) and then download to the MX-800.

All devices are listed in RF CONTROL with identical settings:

SIGNAL = IR & RF
RECEIVER = Default
FLASHERS = All

The Default Receiver is set at:

RECEIVER ID = ID 0
IR BLASTER = On

Are you using the front blaster? ID 0 turns it off with Version 3.0 MRF-200s.

I found the tiny dial at the bottom of the MRF-200. After some trying I was able to turn it to ID 1. Then, using the software, I set the MX-800 to ID 1 as well. And it seems to work great now!

Thank you for the help!

Mine came with both set to ID 0. However, now that this problem is resolved, I am very happy with the remote. For three years I have been using the MX-500 and liked it very much, except for the lack of a computer interface. I never quite finished programming the 500 (or any previous remote), but I am finished with the 800 in less than a day!

I started my remote control journey several years ago with a Pronto. Then I tried a Sony RM-AV2000, then a Marantz. I did not like the touch screens because I could not use them without looking and because they took a long time to set up, particularly the Pronto. The Marantz had lousy signal transmission and I hated it. Finally I tried the HTM MX-500, and after returning two with bad cursors, I found myself liking it very much. It is a great compromise between touch screen configurability and hard button usability.

Now with the MX-800, I’m in heaven, and the blaster makes it all the better.

PS – If anyone has interesting configurations or discrete on/offs, my equipment includes:

TV: Sony Wega KV-27FV15
SAT/DVR: Sony SAT-W60 (DirecTV, Ultimate TV)
CD/DVD: Sony DVP-NC555ES (5-disc changer)
VCR: Panasonic PV-S9670 (but I want to get a Sony DVD recorder with VCR)
RECEIVER: Sony STR-DA3000ES

Thank you again!

For discretes, first check the IR database in MXEditor. If your exact model number is not there, a similar model number will work 9 times out of 10. For example, your TV is in the database with discrete on/off and input commands.

If there's nothing in the database, you can look through both the MX-700/800 and Philips Pronto files sections of this website. You can usually find what you need by importing an MX-700/800 device file or using the Universal Browser to bring in Pronto files.
