Hi,

Just received my MSX 3000, but i think the the backlight on the console is very bright, is there anyway i can tone this down. I can reduce the brightness but not the backlight on the screen. Is it normally very bright?

The MX 3000 screen is actually a transreflective front-lit screen. It's exactly the kind of screen found in the GameBoy Advance SP. While this does push a bit more light than a backlight, it also guarantees that you can read the screen in any lighting, from a blackened theater to poolside on a sunny day.

I just received my MX 3000 as well, and I must say its bloody brilliant! I haven't had to read the manual to start working it. Its as intuitive as one could expect, extremely flexible, and very full featured. I'm very satisfied so far.

HOWEVER, its got one of the worst (colour) screens found on any modern device. I'm not sure what the story is here and why this particular screen technology was chosen.

URC needs to go do some research on colour screen technologies asap.

Check out RIM's Blackberry 7700 series for example, or any of the latest PocketPC Organizers. Granted some of them are not touch-screens, but some are, and ALL are way better than the MX 3000, and are as powerful with long battery life.

(ps: I'm now curious how much better the Philips TSU7000 screens are).
