Hi,

Eagerly awaiting to receive my MSX 3000, was wondering how best to go about creating my own backgrounds, had a brief look at the MSX 3000 Editor, but can't seem to be able to design my own specfic background template. It's there a GIF package / or image package i could use then import these onto the editor.

May be a silly question, but bear with me I new to this programming of remote controls.

Thanks,
Alwyn.

You need an image editing program (ie: PaintShop, PhotoDraw) to create your own images for backgrounds or buttons. Otherwise, you have to use premade ones. For buttons, there are a number of images available here on Remote Central in the Pronto files section.

All images on the MX 3000 are buttons. If you want an image that doesn't do anything, like a background, just don't program any functionality for it.

Make sure it's sized correctly and then just copy and paste it.

I find it wiser to create a new button (press Ins) in the the MX 3000 Editor, then use the IMAGE portion of the Edit and Label Buttons pane to add your graphics.

Why?

If you copy and paste, the image has no file name associated with it. That means that later, if you decide to change the image, you'll have to remember every spot in the RCC where it occurs, then copy and paste again.

If you import the image, you can later use the Image Replace command to replace all instances of that image at once (on a device-by-device basis).

You may not think this is going to matter, but when you've got 700 buttons in your RCC and you decide you want to change the background from brushed aluminum to shag carpet, you'll be glad you did it this way. Trust me.

You're right Dale. I was thinking of copying and pasting within the configuration.
