Just got my open-box MX-700. Three questions:
1) Does your FAV button require more effort to press than your MAIN and PAGE buttons? On my MX-700, I can just tap MAIN and PAGE, but I have to push in FAV with more pressure.
2) Is your bottom-right LCD button slightly out of alignment with the rest of your LCD buttons? Does it have a different feel than the other LCD buttons? My bottom-right button pushes in maybe half as far as the other buttons. It does not have the same click feel as the other buttons.
3) Am I being too picky?
My old MX-500 did not not exhibit either of these. I expected the buttons to feel the same.

On my MX-800 (same case, buttons, etc. as MX-700) the bottom right LCD button does indeed not push in as far as the rest and without the same amount of "push-back feel". I've been using that button for a year now and it still works fine.
And, lo and behold, my FAV button is a little harder to push than the other two.
But, I use my MX-800 daily and have not had any problems at all, so if it doesn't drive you nuts, I wouldn't worry about it. In fact, you probably won't even notice it after a few weeks.
My MX-800 has been working flawlessly for over a year with the same anomalies as your new open-box MX-700. I didn't even notice these things until you just pointed them out.

Thanks -- so I didn't get a bad unit after all. That's good. I was thinking of upgrading to the MX-800, but I guess that won't be any different. I am surprised I haven't seen more complaints here, given it is a $350 MSRP remote, and you'd expect such design issues to be more typical of a $100 product. Interesting that this wasn't the case on the MX-500.
I usually configure bottom right button for my DVR's FavCh button, which is why I noticed immediately that it didn't have the same feedback/feel of the others.

Odd.
On my in-use MX-700, I can't detect any difference between the 10 LCD buttons. The FAV button is perhaps **barely** firmer. Really wouldn't notice unless you were TRYING to find a difference.
Checking a prototype (unused) MX-800, once again I can't feel any difference between the LCD keys, but the FAV button is indeed slightly firmer than MAIN or PAGE.
Checking a final (but early) MX-800, if any of the LCD keys feel different here it's the bottom left one. Doesn't quite have the same "click" depression as the others. If I were to rate the other three keys in order of firmness it would be FAV, PAGE, MAIN.
So, looks like some minor variance is to be expected. But this kind of thing will likely even out over use as the rubber membrane softens as it is flexed. Unless there's something operationally wrong, I really wouldn't be concerned.
