On my MX-700, I have setup the first page on MAIN as activity macros for Watch TV, Watch DVD, Watch Ant, etc. The devices themselves are on the MAIN second page.
I would like a normal press of an activities button like "Watch TV" to change to the appropriate inputs and go to the page for that device. I would also like a 0.3 sec "push and hold" to do the same thing, but also turn on the associated equipment.
How I set this up...
On the MAIN second page with the devices, I have a macro on each device which switches to the appropriate inputs. At the end of each macro, I have a GoTo shortcut to page one for the device (this may seem redundant, but it's added for reason below).
On the MAIN first page with the "activities", I have a shortcut to these device macros on the second page.
On the MAIN first page with the "activities," I also have 0.3 second push and hold macros which a) turn equipment on for that activity, and b) change to the appropriate audio and video inputs for that activity. At the end of each macro is GoTo link to page one of the appropriate device.
The problem is nothing works. The buttons on the first page do nothing. Pressing and holding the buttons does nothing. They never change pages or send any codes. What am I doing wrong?

You cannot have two macros on the same button. Nor can you have a macro that calls in another macro (nested macros) as one of its steps. You can only have a single command and a macro on the same button. Also, you cannot have a "Go to" command as the only step in a macro. You need to add a single command first (even a dummy one) to make the "Go to" work. If you can find discrete on/off commands for all your equipment, there is no reason to have two macros since a Power On command would do nothing if the component's already on. This may be a problem with your Voom and Cable boxes, but should be possible for everything else. Mike www.SurfRemote.com

Thanks Mike.
The reason I had two macros is because it takes about 6-7 seconds for the Samsung DLP to power on. Obviously it's not possible to change video inputs until the display is on. A 7-sec delay means the device's GoTo menu would not display for some time after pressing the button, which is not very intuitive for those using the remote.

You could set up a page that displays a wait message so that the user knows whats going on while the DLP powers on

I still wish they'd update the remote to let people put GoTo page links somewhere before the end of a macro.
It also makes no sense to me why you can't have a shortcut to a different page as the standard button behavior, with a separate macro on the press and hold.

If you put a small delay in at the beginning of the macro, it will go to the device page first. Of course, that also means you would have to duplicate your device pages under the activity button.

Why not use a mian system power on command on the on button? Turn on everything. Then, with the activity macros, have each one use the discrete input command for the specific activity as part of the activity macro.
guess I am just confused why you want it to be so complicated?
