I am very disappointed with the MX-700. After 3 weeks of testing, reading this forum up an down I had no luck with learning the SONY STR-DB925 codes. My Pronto got the codes without problems and ... my 8 year old DENON RC-770 also.
What's the heck with the MX-700 ???? I now about the problems with the SONY codes. But why could all my other remotes learn them?

Have you tried using the Universal Browser with your Pronto CCF to drag-and-drop the commands from? Mike www.SurfRemote.com

Hi Mike,
I did. But the CCF explorer / Universal Browser did not work. I read the thread about the MX editor bug and tried it with the old version - but no success at all.
I wonder about the fact, that I got a working code from an SONY STR-DB940 MXF file (files section) what did not fit the code I created by learning from the original remote:
here the example("Cinema Studio B"):
"real" Pronto Code provided by SONY 0000 0066 005b 0000 0060 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0399 0060 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0398 0060 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 039a 0060 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0160 0060 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0189 0060 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 018f 0060 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 09d6
MX Code (got it from an file for the SONY STR-DB940 within the files section, but it has only a few codes) learned to Pronto (to edit the code with CCF editor, what is not possible within the MX Editor software). This code I can learn backwards from the Pronto back to the MX-700 what worked well also. But the code is different to the code above. 0000 0067 004b 0000 0060 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0030 0016 0030 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0030 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0030 0016 0017 0016 0017 039a 0060 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0030 0016 0030 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0030 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0030 0016 0017 0016 0017 039a 0060 0016 0030 0016 0030 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0030 0016 0030 015f 0060 0016 0030 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0030 0016 0017 0016 0030 0016 0017 0189 0060 0016 0030 0016 0030 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0189 0060 0016 0017 0016 0030 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0030 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0030 0016 0030 0016 0030 0016 0017 0016 0030 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016
So I am very confused.
But the conclusion is: there must be a solution to get these SONY DSP codes into the MX-700 ...

Yes, I tried that with all the codes for DSP settings I have for the pronto. These codes are "clean" without noise overhead. But they seem to be too long.
If we could solve this problem in any way we could do a lot of forum members a big favour I think ...
If I could find a system or any kind of order in the short code (from the 940 mxf file) I could transfer that to all the remaining codes.

Are you having problems dragging the command in from the CCF? I cut and pasted the "clean" hex code above into a CCF, opened it with the UB and dragged the command into my MX-700 config. It saved as a learned command and using the "Test" feature sent an IR command with the MX-700. I don't have a Sony receiver to see if the command works, but it is being saved and sent by the MX-700.

Hi,
1) Make sure you have 1.12.203. If you do not, and a live update does not return this (or newer). Save your config files, uninstall and reinstall. Apparently a bug caused some versions not to update (I had this happen).
2) The Sony DSP codes at one time were too long for the MX-700. I don't know if this is still true since I no longer use mine. However, you can delete one of the repeating codes and it will work fine. As a matter of fact, you may find some of the codes for the TA-E9000S may work (some were shortened using a different editor).
Good luck...

Just a thought, have you tried learning the codes from your pronto? I seem to remember some others saying they could not learn off the oem remote, but were able to learn off of another universal remote.

Thank you all for the replies,
tonight I will do further tests due to your advice.
I will post my efforts.
@RWI: as I wrote above, I tried to learn from the original, the Pronto and the DENON remotes. None of them got the MX-700 to work ... :-(

Just so I'm clear, using the "real" Pronto code you posted above doesn't work? That is, you download it to the MX-700 and it does nothing?

Hi MikeSRC, from within my Proto this code works fine. But if I try to learn it from the Pronto to my MX-700 it looks like successful learning but did not work. The same when I try to grab it thru the Universal Explorer (newest version) - it also looks successful but didn't work. In the avsforum there is a long thread about that [Link: avsforum.com]Everyone got the same probs. If there is a possibility to strip off the repeating code (IR overhead) we we'll won.

Try the following:

Hi Joe C5,
my ProntoEdit returns "Data does not define a valid IR code".
How did you create these codes? I would be happy if there is a possibility to split the origin SONY codes and take them to a two-function-macro.
The MX-700 is very nice to handle and of a logical behaviour. But if there is no possibility to get my main Hifi-component codes into it, the remote is nearly senseless ... hard words but true
I read a lot thru the Web ... other forums and their users all have this SONY-Problem. There are a lot of guys seem able to understand the SONY IR pattern within a code, but at the moment none solved the probs.

Oops - my bad. It's been 3 or 4 years since I played with pronto codes... You really just have to find the repeating codes with the Sony and remove 1 or two of the ones that are the same. I was able to get my TAE working just fine doing that...
Try these:
0000 0066 004b 0000 0060 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0398 0060 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 039a 0060 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0160 0060 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0189 0060 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 018f 0060 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 09d6
